Charitable association "Light of hope" — the organization, that helps HIV-infected people and AIDS patients, addicts and their relatives. The organization was founded in Poltava in 1999. The purpose of the association — assistance in providing all-round social-psychological, medical and legal help to people who live with HIV/AIDS, addicts and their relatives.

Basic directions:

  • medical, social and psychological support for our clients;
  • self-helping group for people living with HIV;
  • addicts and HIV-infected rehabilitation and socialization;
  • defence addicts/HIV-infected rights and interests;
  • prophylaxis of HIV/AIDS in Poltava region, psychological interactive theater "Rubikon";
  • advocacy of our client's interests;
  • preparation of teachers and volunteers for participation in the HIV/AIDS prophylaxis;
  • work of the center of HIV-infected children;
  • psychological and social help for HIV-infected women, who stay in prison.

The students of one of Poltava schools feeded homeless

January, 25 in the Poltava center of adaptation for homeless persons was sweet table.
The students of 27th school came in a center and brought with itself a cake and thin captains.
- We read about existence of such center from Internet, and then saw a program on TV – said Sveta, student– We decided to come here, to support these people. Hope they'll like our cake!
Also this students visited TB-dispensary where the small children are treated.

The adaptation center for homeless was opened in Poltava

December, 16 the great day for Poltava homeless – this day was opened the first center for them. It was opened on the initiative of the charitable association Light of hope with the support of local authorities. Near 30 persons can stay in the center at the same time. They can eat 3 times a day and sleep. Also if they need – specialists help them to recover documents and find a job.

We hope that this center will help a lot of homeless people!

In Poltava celebrated World AIDS day

December,1 in Poltava hold few actions devoted to World AIDS day.

On the press-conference were doctors, deputies and members of NGO. They discussed problems and succes in deciding the problems of HIV/AIDS in Poltava region. The main theme of discussing was paying to all HIV-positive children material help.

After it on the main street of Poltava hold action among people, on which activist told about ways of HIV-transmission and other things connected with this.

In Poltava continue to work school of patients with Hepatitis C

Since November, 2011 in CA Light of Hope launched School of patients. The main purpose of schools – providing information to patients with hepatitis C on aspects of diagnosis and treatment of viral hepatitis. School is held every Wednesday, the passage from 16-00 to 17-30.

- Not only our clients may participate in this shool – says Alexander Solyanik, one of the organizers of the school. – Also it can be relatives of those who suffer from hepatitis C. In one class there are usually 15 – 25 people. Because of this we understand that it is very important and relevant.

There are many myths, one of which – there is no treatment of hepatitis C. Organizers of the School assure that treatment is available, but unfortunately, not all people can buy it, because it is very expensive.

Today there are increasing treatment programs Hepatitis C. If person will visit the whole course of the school – he\'ll have great chances for a cure.
